Hosting FAQ

Email Configuration for POP Server
For configuring your email service and corresponding POP server, you have to enter the following information: (samples here are using sample.chas a sample domain):
POP server for incoming email: mail.sample.ch or mail.viphosting.ch
May be customized according to your domain name. Note that depending on your internet provider the entries may change, due to the fact that the logins are different than on other platforms. Although the standard should always be the following: mail.[domainname].[ext]

Email Configuration for SMTP Server
SMTP or outgoing email server: mail.sample.ch oder
May also vary accoding to your settings. Standard is always POP-Server: mail.[domainname].[ext] respectively mail.viphosting.ch

Email-Address
admin@sample.ch
The admin user is alwyas the host administrator and may add, modify and delete users. Do NEVER delete this user!

Webmail
Webmail lets you access your emails from anywhere. The access is granted thru any webbrowser, eg. IE, Firefox or Safari etc.
Use following URL for Webmail: http://mail.sample.ch or http://mail.viphosting.ch
SSL Webmail: For secured email access https://mail.sample.ch or https://mail.viphosting.ch

Webmail Login
Username: admin@sample.ch The username is always the email address. Password: ****** (Password for email access)

Domain Name Server (DNS)
Nameserver: Domain-Name-Server 1: ns1.rosari.com
Nameserver: Domain-Name-Server 2: ns2.rosari.com

FTP-Access
With your FTP access you may transfer data on the corresponding server, for eg. your webseite, database etc.
URL for FTP access: ftp://www.sample.ch or ftp://www.rosari.ch
Username: sample.ch The username normally is the domain name if not different mentionned.
Password: ******* (Password for FTP access)

Access Rights
If not otherwise mentionned or configured, the access for your website or domain is normally read only (RO=Read Only) for files and diectories. Write access is normally only possible thru FTP access via file transfer. For upload and database directories a special access right muss be given.
